Parish Pastoral Council
The Pastoral Council meets monthly and members are selected to serve either a one, two, or three year term. Parishioners in good standing can nominate themselves or nominate other parishioners in good standing. Nominees names are then placed in a bowl and new members are randomly selected in June.
We the members of the St. Paul of the Cross, St. Rose , and St. Agnes Pastoral Council agree to work together by the following Covenant:
Guided by the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, the Pastor of St. Paul of the Cross-St. Rose Parishes will consult with the Pastoral Council regarding long-rang pastoral planning affecting the whole of life in the two parish community. The Council shall be a sign and witness of unity for the larger community.
The Pastoral Council will be the pastoral planning body-discerning common direction and planning for the future of the three parishes. The Council will develop and periodically assess and update a pastoral plan. When concerns are identified, they will be studied, solutions explored, and recommendations made to the Pastor. The Pastoral Council will encourage and work with the parishes' staff and committees to seek ways in which to meet the pastoral needs of our entire community. The Council will facilitate and promote frequent and thorough communications, understanding, and collaboration within the two-parish community as well as foster the relationship with the Diocese and the universal Church.

Honeoye Falls – Lima Habitat Update Pam Gilson
|
Pam gave us an update on the Habitat for Humanity Project that is the project of other churches n the area and is still in the planning stages. She is concerned about what contributions the parishes of St. Paul of the Cross and St. Rose can make to this effort. They are unable to make any financial contributions at this time. The ground breaking is scheduled for November. If we were going to do a fund raiser, it would need to be now. The suggestions were made of a Penny Collection or collection of soda bottles. Evan suggested that the First Robotics Teams might be interested in assisting with this project. He will contact the group and report at the next meeting. It appears that there is also a lack of advertising of this project. Someone suggested getting the information to the Knights of Columbus. |

Several gentlemen came to discuss the issues at St. Rose and St. Paul of the Cross in regard to attendance, finances, why people have left these parishes, why we can’t go back to the way things were, no flip-flopping, etc. It is difficult to accept that there are fewer people in the pews, thus less money in the basket. It appears that it is hard for those two parishes to accept that the current Mass schedule was approved by the Bishop bases on 1 ½ priests to say those Masses. The only way to change the number of Masses is to find another priest. The times could be changed, but the number of Masses would have to remain the same. St. Paul of the Cross wants to have a 10:30am Mass, St. Rose wants an 8 or 8:30am Mass and a Saturday Mass at one of the parishes. With the current number of priests this cannot happen. Sister is willing to work with the priests to come up with different times, however, travel time and youth formation classes have to be included. | |

Ongoing Discussion |
Last April, one of the Council members volunteered to begin gathering data regarding those who had left St. Rose and St. Paul of the Cross. She asked why they had left, are they affiliated with another parish, do they attend a specific parish, what would it take for them to return to either of these parishes, etc. Some of these people were willing to discuss these issues others were not. Some of the information revealed that some of those people are in health care facilities, some do send in their envelopes or a donation, others are attending other parishes. This data needs further evaluation. Bob suggested that St. Rose and St. Paul of the Cross be given a Sunday Mass on a permanent basis. Someone who said that some people are regular Saturday Mass people countered this idea. Sister Karen suggested St. Rose have an 8/8:30 am Sunday Mass, St. Paul of the Cross have an 11am Mass, and St. Agnes have a Saturday and a 9:30 Sunday Mass. Again they still want a Saturday Mass at one of those parishes. Again, we can only have 4 Masses per weekend. Ryne suggested gathering data regarding the number and offerings for the Saturday Masses for the past year. Michael suggested looking at the numbers and offerings for Saturday and Sunday for the past year at both St. Rose and St. Paul of the Cross. Ryne, Michael and Roger will evaluate this data for the October meeting. |
